Fourth of July Drink Recipes With Alcohol

Patriotic Piña Coladas

If you like these Piña Coladas, you may also like getting caught in the rain. We love this red-white-and-blue twist on this classic cocktail. For this, add 2 (3 oz.) shots of rum, 6 oz. pineapple juice, and 4.5 oz. of cream of coconut into a blender and blend until smooth. Pour about 2/3 of the mixture into a container and set aside. Add 1 cup of fresh strawberries to the remaining mixture in the blender and blend until smooth. Divide the strawberry mixture into two glasses, then slowly pour 1/3 of the reserved piña colada mixture into the drinking glasses. Add the remaining 1/3 of the reserved mixture with 2 shots of blue curaçao liqueur into the blender and blend until smooth. Slowly top off the glasses with the blue mixture and enjoy!

Star-Spangled Spritzer

This light and refreshing beverage is perfect for those summer evening soirées! Pour 2 oz grenadine, 3 oz of orange/pineapple juice blend, and 3 oz sparkling white wine in a glass, and garnish with a piece of watermelon shaped like a star! If you want a kid-friendly non-alcoholic version, substitute the wine for ginger ale.

Red, White, and Blue Layered Cocktail

This pretty drink takes patience and practice, but I’m sure you’ll get the hang of it. It’s certainly worth it! The key is to layer the drink according to sugar content, starting with the highest concentration first. Add 1 oz of grenadine to your ice-filled glass for the red layer. In a cocktail shaker, shake together 3 oz. of lemonade and 1 oz. of vodka. Then gently pour the mixture over the back of a spoon into the glass (white layer). Finally, top with 1 oz blue curaçao poured over the back of a spoon.

Red, White, and Mule

Mules are a versatile beverage. They’re named so because the ginger beer is thought to give a “kick,” much like a stubborn mule. Muddle the 4-6 fresh berries with 1/2 oz lime juice. Add 3 oz. ginger beer and 2 oz. vodka to a copper mug. Pour over ice and top off with sparkling water or cranberry juice and extra berries for garnish.

Patriotic Tom Collins Punch

This is for those gin-lovers out there: a not-too-sweet cocktail punch. Mix 2 cups gin, 2/3 cup fresh lemon juice, 1/2 tbsp simple syrup, 1 cup strawberries (halved), 1 cup blueberries, 3 granny smith apples (peeled and cut into stars), and 5 cups club soda (chilled). Use lemon wheels for garnish and serve in collins glasses.

Watermelon Sangria

Watermelon is just one of the classic tastes of summer. There’s nothing like a bite of icy cold watermelon after a hot day in the sun. This thirst-quenching treat is easy to make in a big batch, too! If you’re having a get-together and making any kind of big-batch drink, try making this watermelon keg to dispense your fruity beverage!

Blue Crush Margaritas

Curaçao is one of my favorite beverage additions (just because it’s pretty), and tequila is also my go-to liquor, so it’s no wonder this beverage spoke to me. Not only do I enjoy the citrusy flavor, but its bright blue hue makes any drink feel like a tropical island treat. Check out this recipe with Patrón tequila.

One of My Favorite Fourth of July Drink Recipes: Mermaid Lemonade

This cocktail recipe has forever been on my Pinterest board, and I think this may just be the summer when I’ll stop drooling over pins, and finally try it! I definitely feel like a mermaid after a sip of this magical blue cocktail. The layered effect gives the illusion of deep and murky waters where magical creatures may lurk, too!

Blueberry Coconut Sparkler

Fresh blueberries, coconut rum, and ginger ale combine to make this fun and festive drink with the perfect hint of tropical paradise. Add coconut flakes on the rim for some extra pizzazz.

Bomb Pop Jell-O Shots

I’ll be honest. I’ve never had a Jell-O shot. But there’s no time like the present. It may be time for these bomb pops to get an adult makeover, and that means getting a little bit boozy. The red layer is grenadine, the white is coco reàl, and the blue is curaçao (all jellified and sweetened with a little bit of sugar and BACARDÍ, of course).

Aperol Spritz

An ultra-refreshing, not-too-sweet bubbly cocktail. Sometimes called simply a “Spritz.“All you need is Aperol, prosecco, club soda, and a slice of fresh orange.

Red, White, and Blue Sangria

This is the perfect summer cocktail recipe with white wine, berry-flavored vodka, and triple sec. Add a bit of lemon juice, simple syrup, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and pineapple, and you’re all set! The berries make the patriotic colors shine! We know pineapple is yellow and not white…but if you cut the pineapple into star shapes, you get the gist.

Fourth of July Drink Recipes Without Alcohol

You can modify many of the drinks listed above using sparkling water, tonic, soda, fruit juices, lemon-lime or ginger soda, or sparkling cider instead of alcohol. Even so, here are some of our favorite drinks that are made especially for kids or those avoiding alcohol.

Fourth of July Layered Drink

Think cherry colada with a hint of berry. Layer piña colada mix (non-alcoholic), Cherry 7-Up with grenadine, and Blue Berry Kool-aide. Top it with whipped cream for an Instagram-worthy beverage.

Red, White, and Blue Frosted Lemonade

One of my favorite places to go in the summer is Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia. After a long day in the hot sun riding rollercoasters, their frosted lemonade is to die for, luckily, you can make this frosted treat at home (and not pay top dollar!). Blend 4 cups of ice, 1 cup of freshly-squeezed lemon juice, and 1/2 cup of sugar in a blender until slushy. Spoon some blueberries into the bottom of a chilled glass, then pour in the lemonade slush. Top with sliced strawberries or raspberries for a fruity and refreshing treat!
