Preppy Urban Style

Which three words best describe your style? My style kind of varies based on the situation, but I’m pretty consistent with an urban young professional style. I guess you could call my style preppy, urban, and comfortable. The word I made up back in college was PURBAN (preppy and urban)

What are your favorite places to shop? That is a hard one to pinpoint, I shop all over the place! It depends on what I’m looking for and the season. I can find some nice pieces at department or trendy stores (Macy’s, Express, Guess, etc), but you can also catch me in Marshalls and Ross. Some days you might even find me in the men’s section at Target. The options are endless. Don’t even get me started on the options with Prime Wardrobe.

Facial hair or clean-shaven? I used to wear clean-shaven but recently I have been rocking the beard. My wife likes it…so I guess that’s a factor.

Who’s your favorite style icon? I don’t really have a style icon, I just appreciate anyone that is taking a piece and making it look good.

Style Advice

What’s your best style advice? When it comes to style, make sure the item fits correctly. It doesn’t matter how expensive or what luxury brand it is, the items need to fit YOUR body correctly. The second piece of advice is to pay attention to the details. You would be surprised how much a pocket square, lapel, unique watch, or pattern will set you apart from the rest. Just don’t overdo it; the key is to be understated.

What fashion/style did you love at the time, but now cringe when you see old photos? When I look at old pictures the number one cringe has to be the super baggy clothing. If it wasn’t an xxl-xxxl it was considered too tight, even though I was definitely just a large. It was also really hilarious to think back to how it was the style to match everything. Red shoes, red pants, red shirt, and the red hat, you couldn’t tell me I wasn’t fresh.

Preppy Urban Family

What’s your favorite way to spend time with your family? I really enjoy movie nights. We make fresh popcorn in a pan, grabs snacks, turn on the neon lights in the living room, and grab a couple of blankets.

What’s been your best family vacation? The best vacation would have to be visiting Washington DC. We love to learn new things, so visiting the Smithsonian museums were really fun.

What’s your favorite family activity? Besides the movies, we really enjoy spending time outside riding our bikesaround the neighborhood.

What’s your dad superpower?  When my family is sick or hurt I have this “Spider-Sense” on how to care for them. I jumped right into being a Stepdad and now a bio dad my first year of marriage (March 18th, 2018) so I’m sure other powers will be unveiled as the years continue.

Best parenting advice: Everything with kids is a phase. It doesn’t matter if you are a parent or stepparent try to be as present as possible. There is only a short window to build that lasting relationship.

Parenting true confession: I sometimes eat my kid’s snacks. Yea, I said it…my wife and I paid for them anyway LOL. However, we always replace them.

What’s your go-to family dinner? Cooking together is a fun experience for the Team Kinchlow Family. We enjoy making homemade burgers with all of the fixings, basically recreating Red Robin burgers.

What’s your favorite family restaurant? We don’t really have one.

Preppy Urban Life

What’s your favorite show to binge-watch? I don’t binge-watch shows. Who has that kind of time? I do on occasion watch The Flash and Arrow.

If you could pick anyone to star as you in a movie based on your life, who would it be? This is a funny one, people used to say I favored Nick Cannon so…I guess that’s an option (I don’t see the resemblance). However, Michael B. Jordan would be my first pick.

What’s your favorite sport and why? I grew up playing multiple sports. I think basketball and baseball because I enjoy how fast the game moves and the need to work together as a team.

What’s the best song to dance to when nobody’s watching? Something semi-old school that’s corny but still has a nice beat. I used to breakdance so I can bust a few moves with some Michael Jackson and the Breaking 2 Soundtrack.

If you could hang out with anyone from history, living or deceased, who would it be? Besides Jesus Christ, I think Walt Disney would be an interesting person to have lunch with. I enjoy studying people who were such visionaries in their particular field. In terms of a person that is living, it would have to be Warren Buffett or Jeff Bezos.

What’s at the top of your travel bucket list? Hands-down I need to visit Tokyo, Japan. I have such a love for their culture, style, and history.

What’s your favorite way to unwind at the end of a long day? When I’m working I tend to be very extroverted, when I’m at home I prefer to keep things pretty low-key. I really enjoy just sitting with my wife and talking about the day.
