Bright Coastal Style

Which three words best describe your style? easygoing, exploring, nautical

What are your favorite places to shop? I love scanning the discount racks at the hardware store, and I LOVE shopping with sailing buddies at the Annapolis boat show. That’s where I buy my boat shoes every year and I wear them out!

Who’s your favorite style icon? Carleton Varney. He’s awesome! I’m not him at all, but he’s great at looking past chaos and seeing the potential. I like bright colors and contrasts, and Carleton’s extremely vibrant.

What’s your best style advice? Don’t try too hard. And there’s no such thing as too many boat shoes.

What fashion/style did you love at the time, but now cringe when you see old photos? I had a habit of dressing like a 50-year-old when I was 30, with a closet full of really baggy Tommy Bahama shirts. But now I’m just a few years away from being able to pull them off!

What’s your dad superpower? I help my wife with laundry, and always do my own.  I own at least 30 pairs of undergarments so I only have to wash my clothes once a month.

Facial hair or clean-shaven? Definitely clean-shaven!

Bright Coastal Family

What’s your favorite way to spend time with your family? Sailing! Or romping around the battlefields in Yorktown, Virginia. Did I mention sailing?

What’s been your best family vacation? It’s a toss-up between the Virginia mountains in Hot Springs, Virginia, and the Bahamas.

What’s your favorite family activity? Exploring new places together.  Watching Laura and the kids experience new places is really what has inspired me to start FamilyApp.

Best parenting advice: When your children express interest in learning something, stop (put your phone down!) and take the time to foster that interest.  In other words, teach ’em to fish and they’ll never go hungry.  And just like fishing, show them what it means to be persistent and never give up.

Parenting true confession: I like to play with Playmobil and Legos even more than my kids! I even built a whole doll room for them.

What’s your go-to family dinner? Lasagna. Especially the meat lasagna from Costco!

What’s your favorite family restaurant? Our latest favorite is Zoës Kitchen. It’s relatively nutritious, good, and quick!

Bright Coastal Life

What’s your favorite show to binge-watch? Any kind of historical show, whether it’s a documentary or drama.

If you could pick anyone to star as you in a movie based on your life, who would it be? Harrison Ford at the peak of his Indiana Jones years. We even have a son named Harrison.

What’s your favorite sport and why? Sailing, because it’s like life. You can’t control the circumstances. All you can do is constantly make fine adjustments to get to your intended destination. Sometimes it takes longer than you expect, and sometimes it’s a blast!

If you could hang out with anyone from history, living or deceased, who would it be? George Washington. He was a true Renaissance man who loved exploring, his home and gardening, and was willing to put it all on the line when called.

What’s at the top of your travel bucket list? Trans-Siberian Railroad.

What’s your favorite way to unwind at the end of a long day? Walking down to the edge of the bay to watch the sunset.

Your Bright Coastal Style

Peter is always up for a fun new adventure, and his colorful coastal style definitely accommodates that easy-going and active lifestyle. Does he agonize over what to wear when he wakes up in the morning? No! Absolutely not! 95% of the time these days, it’s a FamilyApp tee shirt, tucked neatly into colorful pants with a belt. Or just a bright polo shirt and khakis.

But is he fun and festive? You bet!
