best brunch spots in Virginia Beach

Are you looking for the best place for weekend brunch at the beach? Do you love mimosas, pretty latte art, and homemade hollandaise? Then you’ll love these picks for the best brunch in Virginia Beach!

The Best Virginia Beach Brunch: Bee and the Biscuit

A personal favorite, Bee and the Biscuit is a family-run brunch paradise. Located in a quaint yellow 1920’s house in the heart of Virginia Beach’s Pungo, all of their ingredients are locally sourced. They specialize in farm-to-table treats like their loaded veggie omelets or eggs Benedict smothered in hollandaise. Don’t forget to try their famous cinnamon roll; it’s HUGE and full of sweet flavor. Be sure to order a side of their namesake biscuits, too; they come with fresh jam!

If you’re a mimosa fan, then try their mimosa flight! Choose from a variety of fresh, seasonal flavors like Pungo strawberry and blueberry. Their bartender is a total pro and can serve up all your favorite morning drinks, including Irish coffee and incredible Bloody Mary’s.

This is a popular local spot for a reason, and the wait can be quite long on the weekends. If there is, you can sit in their beautiful garden area while you wait for your table. Stop by the outdoor bar for a drink or two and even play outdoor games with your party. If it’s chilly, then grab a blanket and cuddle up by a fire pit. Your wait time will truly fly by in this gorgeous space! They also offer to-go options Tuesday through Friday if you’d prefer brunch at home. This is truly the best brunch in Virginia Beach!

Virginia Beach Brunch Spots at Town Center

Anchor Allies

Another local hot spot, Anchor Allies, is a veteran-owned, retro-themed restaurant. From the wall decor to the funky pin-up style waitress uniform, this restaurant is so much fun. And with two locations, one in Virginia Beach Town Center and the other on Shore Drive, you’ll likely be close by!

They serve breakfast all day from a menu full of American-diner classics. Try their signature vanilla and cinnamon baguette french toast topped with bourbon maple syrup! Or check out their delicious “bomblettes” named after different Naval vessels, like the USS San Antonio with chorizo, peppers, and pepper jack cheese. Yum!

Anchor Allies is equipped with a full bar and an espresso machine, so you’ll be sure to find a drink that suits your taste. Also, they offer lunch options, in case you want a savory burger or loaded fish tacos. But, don’t forget you can have a pancake stack or eggs Benedict here any time of day!

Town Center Cold Pressed

Are you looking for a more casual place with yummy bagels and fresh-pressed juices? Check out Cold Pressed!

This cafe is nestled in the heart of Virginia Beach’s Town Center and has all the cool vibes you’re looking for. Try out their Nitro Cold brew for a caffeine kick- it’s infused with nitrogen to give it the perfect foamy consistency without milk!

Cold Pressed has incredible ‘smuices,’ or juice-blended smoothies, for a fruity pick-me-up. They also have delicious Acai bowls topped with coconut and berries! If you’re looking for a bagel, try out their Lox-zilla- it’s an everything bagel loaded with smoked salmon lox, avocado whipped cream cheese, nori flakes, and topped with sesame seeds. Yum!

Virginia Beach Brunch in the Vibe District

Commune

This funky farm-to-table restaurant feels at home in the Oceanfront VIBe Creative District! Commune is Virginia’s first farmer-owned restaurant. They focus on sustainable food sourcing through their own all-natural, working, and educational farm called New Earth Farm, located in Pungo. This means they’ll always serve you fresh and in-season ingredients in dishes prepared with the utmost care.

The cafe serves house-made breads and baked goods and a full menu of delicious kitchen entrees. Try out a classic breakfast sandwich on a fluffy brioche bun with your oat-milk latte or a traditional French crepe loaded with ham, melted cheddar cheese, and a sunny-side-up egg. You truly can’t go wrong- everything is delicious!

Java Surf Cafe

Located in the heart of the vibe district, JavaSurf is a self-proclaimed “Italian Espresso meets American Surf Diner.” The best part about Java Surf is you can wash down your brunch with some seriously good, organic coffee! With all kinds of wraps, sandwiches, melts, and scrambles, you can’t go wrong with all the delicious options.

Virginia Beach Brunch at the Oceanfront/Shore Drive

Feeling hungry, yet? Here are some more favorite places that are just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the water!

Becca

Located in the beautiful, historic Cavalier Hotel, this modern and sophisticated restaurant boasts bright and inspired fare and locally sourced ingredients in an outdoor garden setting. We highly recommend the Cavalier Benedict! During the week and Saturday, breakfast is until 11 am, then lunch starts at 11:30. Sunday has a brunch menu served from 7 am until 4 pm!

Citrus

This place is always HOPPIN. With every item made from scratch, you know you’re getting fresh, locally sourced food from the coastal Virginia region. With two locations, one at W Great Neck Rd and the other in North Great Neck, both are highly rated and well-loved by tourists and locals alike! I can highly recommend the soft-shell crab benedict.

Hair of the Dog

We stumbled on this gem one day when my friend and I were looking for something new. I had a hard time deciding between the benedicts, omelets, shrimp and grits, chicken, and waffles; it all looks delicious! I can confidently say I think they have some of the best hollandaise in Virginia Beach.

Bay Local Eatery

This beautifully decorated spot with locations on Shore Drive and off of Laskin Road is sure to have what you’re looking for. Bay Local has it all, from brunch to dinner favorites!

This delicious spot is home to some unique brunch options, like my personal favorite “tachos.” A dish sure to make brunch special, “tachos” are loaded tater-tots topped with all the best nacho toppings like jalapenos, cheese sauce, black beans, and salsa. Next, try their avocado toast!

Definitely try out their sorbet mimosas if you’re having a boozy brunch. They offer a wide variety of delicious flavors, including mango and raspberry! Bay Local’s menu also features a popular “Hangover” entree with a 9 oz. Sirloin steak, tater-tots or home fries, a pancake, and a brown-bag of Budweiser to wash it all down. Talk about a hangover cure!
