Is there anything nicer than a lazy morning brunch? Poached eggs, waffles, bacon, french toast, sausage, pancakes… I’m starting to get hungry already! Read on to find out which restaurants and cafes offer the best brunch in Virginia Beach.
Where to Find the Best Brunch in Virginia Beach
You’ve got to have a big meal before you spend a full day in the surf and sand. What do you do? You hit up one of Virginia Beach’s best brunch restaurants and cafes and spend a leisurely morning eating eggs benedict and hash browns with a mimosa in hand! Sound like a good idea? Here are some of the best brunch places in Virginia Beach where you can live that dream.
1. The Bee and the Biscuit
This is probably the one I hear most about. It’s a charming cottage restaurant with a garden serving New American breakfast, brunch, and lunch dishes all day. You may want to get there pretty early to get a table because this place is one of the most popular breakfast spots in the area. You can’t go wrong with the “stuffed french toast” or cinnamon rolls.
2. Doc Taylor’s
If they’re open, they’re serving breakfast or lunch! The “little brother” of Tautogs, a Virginia Beach institution serving up fresh seafood. This breakfast spot is one that the locals can’t get enough of! If you’re looking for a great homestyle breakfast or brunch at an affordable price, this is the place to check out.
3. Becca at the Cavalier
Located in the beautiful, historic Cavalier Hotel, this modern and sophisticated restaurant boasts bright and inspired fare and locally sourced ingredients in an outdoor garden setting. We highly recommend the Cavalier Benedict! During the week and Saturday, breakfast is until 11 am, then lunch starts at 11:30. Sunday has a brunch menu served from 7 am until 4 pm!
4. Hair of the Dog Eatery
We stumbled on this gem one day when my friend and I were looking for something new. I had a hard time deciding between the benedicts, omelets, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, it all looks delicious! I can confidently say I think they have some of the best hollandaise in Virginia Beach.
5. Bay Local Eatery
Bay Local is where my friends and I go when we’re looking for a great atmosphere and delicious food. Their “brunch tacos” are on top of my list of things to try. With their wide selection of brunch drinks from fresh crushes to bloody marys, there’s no shortage of options if you’re looking for a fresh libation. We highly recommend anything from the “Bay Favorites” Menu.
This place is always HOPPIN. My mom always claims she will go and order something else, but for some reason, the pumpkin pancakes always end up in front of her. With every item made from scratch, you know you’re getting fresh, locally-sourced food from the coastal Virginia region. With two locations, one at W Great Neck Rd and the other in North Great Neck, both are highly rated and well-loved by tourists and locals alike! I can highly recommend the soft-shell crab benedict.
7. Java Surf Cafe and Espresso Bar
Located in the heart of the vibe district, JavaSurf is a self-proclaimed “Italian Espresso meets American Surf Diner.” The best part about Java Surf is you can wash down your brunch with some seriously good, organic coffee! With all kinds of wraps, sandwiches, melts, and scrambles, you can’t go wrong with all the delicious options.
Better Get Some Brunch!
If you’re in the Virginia Beach area, there’s no shortage of brunch spots that will satisfy that mid-morning comfort food craving. Before you hit the beach, try out one of these restaurants and you’ll be sure to start your day off right.
