Meet Amy

I grew up in Northern California, but my husband (Jeff) and I now make Williamsburg, VA our permanent home! I am mom to Addy (age 12) and Luke (age 9), and a big briard dog, Tallulah.

My days revolve around my favorite thing: FOOD!!! I'm a nutritionist with a Masters of Science in human nutrition, a food blogger, and cookbook author.

I spend my days in the kitchen–usually in yoga pants and a baseball cap–creating wholesome yet delicious recipes for my family to enjoy. My food blog, Wholesomelicious, is full of these recipes. I also have 2 cookbooks in print: One Pot Gluten Free Cooking, and The Big Book of Instant Pot Recipes. My favorite time of the day is at the dining room table with my husband and kids. This is my happy place.

I’m also an avid baseball fan, lover of winter and snow days, creature of comfort, an extrovert who loves a good party and spending time with friends and family, horrible laundry folder, the messiest eater, and undeniably competitive with any game or sport. I am most definitely the loudest mom at the baseball field. In my free time, I volunteer as a youth baseball and softball coach for my kids’ teams.

Wholesome Foodie Style

Which three words best describe your style? Comfortable, athletic, trendy

Where are your favorite places to shop? Lululemon, Target, and Anthropologie

Who’s your favorite style icon? I love Kate Middleton’s style, although it’s not a look I pull off very often!

What’s your best style advice? When you feel put together in an outfit you love, it makes all the difference! It makes me more productive, confident, and happy

What article of clothing/accessory would you not want to live without? I love leggings. Since I work from home, I want to feel comfortable. I also want to be able to throw on something quickly to make that comfy look feel more “put together”, and love a fun pair of earrings.

Which trend would you want to see make a comeback? The velour jumpsuit. So cozy!

What should NEVER make a comeback? Shoulderpads!! They look terrible on my body type

What fashion/style did you love at the time, but now cringe when you see old photos? Choker necklaces

What’s your best style secret? A cute jacket in the colder months can take any outfit up a notch. Whether it be yoga pants, classic jeans, or even a dress, a cute jacket can transform an outfit!

Stilettos or flats? Flats definitely, I love my feet to be comfortable

Wholesome Foodie Parenting

Best parenting advice: Love your spouse and put them first. When kids see happiness between their parents, they feel comforted and safe. They also learn that they are not the center of the home.

Parenting true confession: I really don’t like helping with homework. It’s exhausting to me, so I let my husband take over those duties. This includes, the dreaded school projects!

Wholesome Foodie Family

What’s your favorite way to spend time with your family? I love our nightly dinners around the dining room table. Once a week we also add game night to dinner which is always fun.

What’s been your best family vacation? So many fun ones! We traveled extensively when we lived in Germany (thank you to the Army for this 4 year adventure).

My favorite family vacations have all been in the mountains: skiing in the Alps, Colorado, and even a summer trip to Montana. I am the happiest when surrounded by nature and doing activities outside. I also love the winter, fireplaces, and snow.

What’s your go-to family dinner? I have a ton of favorites! I cook all the time since it’s my job; each family member has their own personal favorites. One meal we all love and eat once a week is tacos!

What’s your favorite family restaurant? We have a few here, but it would probably be our favorite local Indian restaurant, The Spice Palace.

Wholesome Foodie Life

What’s your favorite show to binge watch? I love true crime shows. I can binge watch Dateline.

If you could pick anyone to star as you in a movie based on your life, who would it be? I have been told by several people that I look like Shailene Woodley, so maybe her. I also love Jennifer Aniston.

What’s your favorite beach read? Anything by Elin Hildebrand

What’s the best song to dance to when nobody’s watching? Anything from Hall and Oates! My favorite of all time.

If you could go shopping with anyone from history, living or deceased, who would it be? My mom. She lives in Colorado and I don’t get to see her that much. Plus, she has great taste and likes to buy me things!

What’s at the top of your travel bucket list? New Zealand or Norway. We were supposed to visit Norway this past summer, but had to cancel our vacation because my son’s baseball team made it all the way to the World Series! Norway can wait for another time, but is still at the top of the list.

What’s your favorite way to unwind at the end of a long day? TV, my husband, my dog, a fire, and some chocolate
