Casual Coordinated Dad on the Street: Michael McIntyre

Casual Coordinated Dad on the Street Michael McIntyre

Not all superheroes wear capes. Some wear suspenders– like this week’s Casual Coordinated Dad on the Street Michael McIntyre! Read on to learn all about this dynamic dad of four.

Meet Michael

Hello! My name is Michael McIntyre. I grew up in Inglewood, CA, and relocated to Fresno, CA where I began high school. After graduating high school, I attended CSU, Fresno where I received a degree in Mass Communication & Journalism. While attending CSU, Fresno, I also played point guard for the legendary Jerry Tarkanian and was a member of the 2000 WAC championship team. The best thing about my stint at the University was building a friendship with a woman I now call my wife.

In 2002, a year after I graduated from CSU, Fresno, I moved back to Fresno (after living in Los Angeles for a year) to pursue a relationship with my wife. Over the past 17 years, we’ve been blessed with 4 beautiful children (1 adopted), wonderful careers, amazing families and friends, and the list goes on and on. God has definitely had his hand in this union.

We are a family that loves to travel and enjoy each other. One reason we started social media was not to show what we have or what we do, but to encourage others to live their “best lives.” To love others. To set yourselves up for success and not accept the position you are in if it’s not the position you want to be in. Our future YouTube videos will break down every aspect of how we got where we are and how others can do the same. It’s always been in our hearts to reach others, especially the youth, and encourage them to be the best they can be. Thank you. I am Michael McIntyre.

Casual Coordinated Style

Which three words best describe your style? Casual, comfortable, and coordinated.

What are your favorite places to shop? On-line, asics.com. They have the most comfortable running shoes and their styles fit mine. I also like to shop at Foot Action, Kohl’s, and Macy’s.

Who’s your favorite style icon? I grew up watching Sean “Puffy” Combs build an empire through music and fashion. From his athletic wear to casual, to professional look, Combs is hands down my favorite style icon.

What’s your best style advice? When it comes down to it, be “you.” Do what’s comfortable for you. Wear what looks good to you. Purchase what fits in your budget and won’t break you. Don’t go broke to impress others.

What fashion/style did you love at the time, but now cringe when you see old photos? Baggy clothes 😳. When it was the style I fell right in. My clothes were extremely baggy and I laugh every time I see pictures from my high school days.

What’s your dad superpower? I’m the “make it work” dad. As a firefighter, there is never a situation we feel we can “give up” on. So that’s been carried over into my family life.

Facial hair or clean-shaven? Because of my profession and my receding hairline 😂… Clean shaven!

Casual Coordinated Family

What’s your favorite way to spend time with your family? We love to have game and movie nights at home, and travel where ever life takes us.

What’s been your best family vacation? For the last 8 years, we’ve had a timeshare in Carlsbad, CA just north of San Diego. The resort is right across the street from Legoland California and down the street from the beach. Its always a wonderful time but I am actually looking forward to our 10 day trip to China in a few weeks.

What’s your favorite family activity? As a whole family, we love to bowl. If it’s just the kids and myself, I would have to say “Defy Clovis” trampoline gymnasium.

Best parenting advice: Never get comfortable with where you are as a parent. Always pay attention and reevaluate your relationship with your children. talk to them and allow them to be honest.

Parenting true confession: I allow my children to run through the racks at the clothing store and my wife hates it.

What’s your go-to family dinner? Because we are usually always on the go, spaghetti is usually the fastest and easiest to prepare. Luckily it’s the kids’ favorite meal and they aren’t sick of it yet.

What’s your favorite family restaurant? We are a family that loves breakfast. When we are in Los Angeles, it’s Roscoes Chicken and Waffles.

Casual Coordinated Life

What’s your favorite show to binge-watch? Ridiculousness and Wild “N” Out. Obviously not with the kids around. But I love comedy and I love to laugh.

If you could pick anyone to star as you in a movie based on your life, who would it be? Denzel Washington. I can’t see him messing up any role.

What’s your favorite sport and why? Basketball! 🏀 At the age of 12, I realized I had a future in basketball. In the environment I grew up in, I didn’t want to end up a statistic. I asked my mom if we could move away and we did. Through hard work and dedication, I gained character and “fight.”

What’s the best song to dance to when nobody’s watching? “I wanna be your lover” by Michael Jackson.

If you could hang out with anyone from history, living or deceased, who would it be? President Barack Obama. A man of great character, personality, and love.

What’s at the top of your travel bucket list? I’ve been to Europe, trips are already booked to Jamaica and China, so I would say Africa is on the top of my list now.

What’s your favorite way to unwind at the end of a long day? Do parents still do that (unwind) 😂? If I could, I think it would to just sit in the jacuzzi and watch the stars.

Your Casual Coordinated Style

We love the relaxed yet polished approach Michael takes to his life and style. He looks just as sharp ready to head out on another family adventure as he does when he’s in his firefighter uniform. He’s a great example of how comfort and style are not mutually exclusive. You can still be stylish while enjoying a fun family trip to the bowling alley or family game night.

We’re also big fans of the way he loves his wife and family, which comes across so beautifully in his photos and social media accounts.
