California Cavalier Dad on the Street: Willis Robertson

California Cavalier Dad

Some people are born with the gift of style- and California Cavalier Dad on the Street Willis Robertson is one of them. Whether he’s meeting with clients or taking his kids to the park, Willis’ style fuses East Coast sophistication with West Coast fun.

Meet Willis

Originally from Virginia Beach, VA, Willis Robertson has lived in Los Angeles Area for eleven years. Willis began his career in entertainment, having worked at The William Morris Agency before moving into TV Development at Bunim/Murray Productions and then 44 Blue Productions. He later started his own production company So They Went Productions.  Despite growing up with four sisters (or perhaps because of it) Willis is an avid golfer, duck hunter, and NASCAR fan who tries to get outside whenever he can.

California Cavalier Style

Which three words best describe your style? East Meets West (Coast)

What are your favorite places to shop? Rodd and Gunn – I only own 2 things from Rodd and Gunn, but I want everything I’ve ever seen in their store. Filson is great, too.

What’s your best style advice? Often times it’s better to have a practical style than a cool style.

What fashion/style did you love at the time, but now cringe when you see old photos? By today’s standards, I used to wear really baggy shirts and pants – I still have a few of the button-down shirts from 15 years ago. I never wear them because when I put it on I feel like I’m swimming.

Facial hair or clean-shaven? Constant 5 o’clock shadow, with a cold-weather beard. The extra layer is key for the cold Los Angeles nights.

California Cavalier Family

What’s your favorite way to spend time with your family? We’re starting to go on a lot of walks and hikes as a family. Whether just around the block, on a mountain trail, or through a neighborhood park with ducks we have a lot of fun getting outside and seeing what our kids call out while we walk.

What’s been your best family vacation? We just got back from a weeklong trip to Cabo San Lucas and it was amazing. We stayed at a great, family-friendly resort (including a restaurant on a pirate ship!) so our kids had a blast, and we had my in-laws with us allowing my wife and me to have some time to relax as well.

Best parenting advice: You are the best dad/mom your child will ever have. No matter how little you know, you’re still their best dad.

What’s your go-to family dinner? My daughter only eats butter noodles with parmesan, so we eat a lot of spaghetti these days.

What’s your favorite family restaurant? Maria’s Italian Kitchen – they have the best butter noodles with parmesan!

California Cavalier Life

What’s your favorite show to binge-watch? Whatever show I’m binging right now. I’m not one to rewatch a show once I’ve seen it. Memorable binges include 24 (old-school DVD binge – my dreams had the clock tick noise), Lost, Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,

What’s your favorite sport and why? Lacrosse. It is the ultimate team sport with just enough contact to make it fun and exciting, but not so much that people won’t let their kids play.

What’s at the top of your travel bucket list? I’ve never been to Europe or South America. I’ve hit parts of Asia and Africa but would love to do a European tour hitting coastal cities in Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Croatia.

Your California Cavalier Style

We love how Willis has incorporated his Virginia roots into his California Cavalier style, blending the best of both coasts. He’s well-groomed and stylish, but always ready for a fun adventure with his family.
