This company quickly became a go-to for skincare and make-up a few years ago because my sensitive skin didn’t break out when I began using their products. Sometimes that’s all it takes. (They also use large, effective before-and-after pictures in their store displays.)
This moisturizer calls itself an “Anti-aging armour.” The hydrating formula is infused with ceramides, peptides, and anti-aging collagen. The result? This facial moisturizer makes the skin more supple and smooth but also evens tone. Using this during the day will decrease the amount of makeup you need to make your skin ready for public viewing. Downside? It does not contain an SPF, but IT has a great BB cream that does.
Face it. Philosophy wins us over with their Product Names. Also, why are we drawn to existential language when it comes to skincare? What I need is a miracle! But we are – and this moisturizer with sunscreen (SPF 30) is tried and true. It has a high price point, but I stuck it in the mid-range category because Philosophy often has specials and usually offers products in smaller sizes for sampling.

So here’s my move. I go to Ulta. Whenever I ask for advice about a product, the people are great. This staff can talk some mascara, which has my full respect. But after they show me the best, most shiny product, I ask them to direct me to “its drugstore equivalent.” Then we go over to the “drugstore section” and they find me the cheaper version.
Drugstores carry less expensive versions of practically any high-end product and often you can stumble on something with just as much quality.
