Beatrice is an adorable Italian Greyhound (or as many of their owners called them, "Iggy") with an impeccable sense of style and a loyal fan base on Instagram. She and her dog-mom have started a unique fashion brand called Miggywear, mainly designed for the greyhound breed. Read on to learn more about this posh, fashionable Italian Greyhound.
My name is Beatrice. I am a 5-month-old Italian Greyhound from Adelaide, South Australia. I have three older brothers, two human and one canine. I'm best known as Beatrice the Iggy and have made quite the impression on Instagram with my personality and fashion sense.
How did your owner know you were “the one”?
I think it was because of my superior looks and personality. How long have you been together?3 Months. How old are you?
What’s your favorite toy?
I don’t really do ‘toys,’ so to speak, but I do enjoy stealing and sucking on my baby brother’s pacifier/dummy.
What’s your favorite food?
I really enjoy dehydrated free-range chicken breast.
What’s your greatest fear?
Losing my looks as I grow older, but this seems less and less likely.
Favorite famous animal?
I don’t have a favorite famous animal, but I really love Mariah Carey and Beyonce too. They are super glamorous.
What’s your favorite game?
I really enjoy giving my oldest brother Billy (a 9-year-old Spoodle) a nip on the tail or behind when he least expects it and then running away. It drives him crazy.
Favorite animal movie/tv show?
Loving Schitt’s Creek atm.
What are some of your favorite things to do that make your owner upset?
The aforementioned dummy/pacifier sucking. I also urinate inside relatively frequently.
What’s your favorite way to exercise?
A brisk walk to the coffee shop.
I always cross my paws when sitting.
Do you let your owner dress you up? If so, what’s your favorite outfit?
Absolutely! I’m actually a fashion designer, and I design and make all my own outfits.
What’s your favorite treat?
The aforementioned dehydrated chicken breast.
What’s your favorite place to visit?
I love going to hip urban cafes in my area and being adored.
What’s your favorite napping spot?
On top of the sofa.
When did you first get into designing clothing for pups?
I was born into the industry. My late sister Margaret was also a fashion designer, and it seems I inherited her sense of style and taste. So it is very exciting to own and design Miggywear.
Do you only design costumes/clothing for Italian Greyhounds or other dogs as well?
We are pretty exclusive to Italian Greyhounds and Whippets, but occasionally I dabble in other breeds. I dress my brother Billy occasionally. He is a Spoodle.
Have you always been interested in designing and clothing?
Absolutely. It is a passion of mine.
Is your brand fully released, or are you still working on it?
Still working on it. I hope to release my very first winter range this week.
How would you describe the style you design?
It's chic but totally functional. My outfits can take you from the park to the cafe and everywhere in between.
Where do you see the brand going in the future?
Well, it's already global, but I would really love to see some of my creations hit the catwalks of London, Paris, and New York. Then I will know I have really made it.
What are some of your favorite outfits you have created? My two favorites would have to be my double blue jumpsuit and my leopard print jumpsuit. But they are all amazing.
What motivates you in terms of fashion, especially pet/dog fashion? I just want to be a super famous designer, and I want to be rich. I also love seeing my designs on celebrities like @tunameltsmyheart and @iggyjoey.
Do you have a website for Miggywear? Yes, my website is www.miggywear.com.
Why do you think someone should get an Italian Greyhound?
We are superior to all other breeds. MOTHER IS ANSWERING THE BELOW QUESTIONS….SHE THINKS I WON’T ACCURATELY ANSWER THE BELOW QUESTIONS, SO I AM RESTING NOW.
What is the temperament and energy level of an Italian Greyhound?
Italian Greyhounds vary quite a lot in temperament and energy levels, but generally, they are very loyal and loving to their owners and can be wary/nervous of others. They need exercise daily but are then happy to sleep most of the day away.
How big are Italian Greyhounds typically?
Between 4 - 8 Kg/ 10 or 20 pounds, but again, they vary a lot in size.
Do you think Italian Greyhounds are a good family breed?
Yes, but they can be a delicate dog (can break legs easily!) so need to be careful around children. Beatrice adores her two human brothers, though!!
Do Italian Greyhounds get along well with other pets? Does Beatrice?
Yes, Beatrice adores Billy but is totally the boss already.
How have you trained Beatrice? Are Italian Greyhounds good with training?
I am training Beatrice myself. I did so with my previous beautiful little Italian Greyhound Margaret, and she was perfect. Beatrice might be a little more headstrong, though, so she may have to do some more formal training in the future!
Why do you think Italian Greyhounds are amazing? (Especially Beatrice)
Both Beatrice and my last Italian Greyhound Margaret have/had such strong and hilarious personalities. They truly do believe themselves to be superior to other dogs! Every day they do something which makes me laugh and make a grab for my camera.
Beatrice's fashion sense and grand outlook on life inspire us to look and feel our best. Beatrice truly is the boss, and it shows through her posh personality and fashionable style.
