While cookies have been a popular treat since the 7th century, the Macadamia nut didn’t become a popular snack until the 1800s. And it wasn’t until nearly 100 years later that the first macadamia nut processing plant began shipping the nuts around the world from Kakaako, Hawaii. We’re not sure who eventually put the two together to make the tastiest cookies on the market, but whoever they are we owe them high praise. This sweetly salty combination of flavors is sheer perfection!

Cookies: The Perfect Snack

Cookies might just be one of the best desserts you can eat. But growing up, cookies were much more than just a dessert. After middle school soccer practice, a teammate of mine would often invite me over for a post-practice snack. His family was big on cookies and they would have a fresh plate of them sitting on the counter every weekend. Chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, double dark chocolate, and white chocolate macadamia nut were among the flavors they made the most. There’s something special about biting into a cookie after running laps all day, right?

Nevertheless, it was the white chocolate macadamia nut cookies that had me coming back for more. They were the perfect game-time motivator, and even after a tough loss, they never failed to put a smile on my face. If you’ve made cookies before then you’re familiar with the delicious smell that fills the house while they’re baking in the oven. Extra butter, extra brown sugar, extra everything; my teammate’s family never missed an opportunity to double-down on the ingredients that made their cookies supreme to all.

The White Chocolate Macadamia Nut Cookies

While white chocolate macadamia nut cookies might seem complicated, but they’re much easier to make than you think. Anyone with or without baking experience can make them, it’s just about using the right recipe. Other than white chocolate chips and macadamia nuts, all you really need is some flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and butter. There are a few more key ingredients, but we’ve included them in our cookie recipe below.

The real challenge is the baking time. Leave them in too long and you’ll end up with biscuits instead of cookies. However, if you don’t bake them long enough you’ll have a plate of undercooked dough! Additionally, it’s important to portion your cookies into the proper size. Cookies that are too big won’t bake all the way through. White chocolate is sweeter than dark chocolate, so you’ll want to make sure you don’t put too many white chocolate chips in the batter. After all, there’s nothing worse than a cookie that’s too rich to eat!
