Meet Jim

Jim White is a nationally-recognized registered dietitian nutritionist, American College of Sports Medicine Exercise Physiologist, and owner of three Jim White Fitness and Nutrition Studios, three medical nutrition therapy practices, and a workplace wellness corporation.

He has been quoted in thousands of publications and featured in hundreds of television and radio segments nationwide including ABC Family Channel, Today, TLC, Radio Disney, GQ, Men’s Health, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, and many more. Jim is a past spokesman for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. He’s currently working with companies to help improve their food and lifestyle brands. Current and past clients include National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Welch’s, National Dairy Council, California almonds, Oikos, USA Potatoes, Nestle, and California Walnuts.

In his free time, White enjoys giving back through his own non-profit, the LIFT Fitness Foundation. It focuses on creating a foundation of wellness to empower individuals in need. Jim lives in Virginia Beach with his wife Krista, their daughter Ava James, and their dog Flex. They have a new baby on the way in September. He has passion for his craft, helping the community and living for God and his savior Jesus Christ.

Which three words best describe your style? On most days I’m in workout gear, but if we’re going out probably smart casual/clean cut.

Where’s your favorite place to work out? Jim White Fitness and Nutrition Studios

Who’s your favorite fitness icon? Jack LaLanne

What’s your best fitness advice? Skip the fad fitness trends and diets. Eat well 90% of the time and move 30 minutes each day. You will live a life of optimal wellness.

What trend did you love at the time, but now cringe when you see old photos? Bowl cut in high school, yikes.

What’s your dad superpower? Even after a long day of work, I always have endless energy to play and goof-off with my daughter.

Facial hair or clean-shaven? Facial hair

What’s your favorite way to spend time with your family? Sundays are my favorite days with my family. We go to church, grab lunch, and spend the whole day together.

What’s been your best family vacation? It’s not a typical vacation spot but any time we’re able to get back home to Ohio to visit with the whole family is our best vacation.

What’s your favorite family activity? Anything active – with a toddler, you can’t ever sit still. She definitely takes after me!

Best parenting advice: Above all things, teach them to be kind.

Parenting true confession: I get caught eating my daughter’s food more often than I’d like to admit.

What’s your go-to family dinner? Chickpea pasta with spinach and turkey meatballs is a regular weekly meal.

What’s your favorite family restaurant? Taste Unlimited

What’s your favorite show to binge-watch? Deal or No Deal – it’s addicting!

If you could pick anyone to star as you in a movie based on your life, who would it be? Bradley Cooper

What’s your favorite sport and why? Basketball- it brings back childhood memories

What’s your favorite workout song?  “Lose Yourself” by Eminem

If you could work out with anyone from history, living or deceased, who would it be? Arnold Schwarzenegger

What’s at the top of your travel bucket list? Israel

What’s your favorite way to unwind at the end of a long day? Before Ava’s bedtime each night, my wife, myself and daughter (even the dog gets in the mix!) play in her room, read books and pray. It’s the perfect ending to the day.
