The Best Mexican Restaurants in Virginia Beach

No matter your palate preference, most people will settle for any decent Mexican restaurant. When the choices are too tough to pick from, don’t worry– you won’t be settling for anything after checking out a few of these fantastic Mexican Restaurants around town!

Gringo’s Taqueria

Gringo’s brings only the freshest recipes to the Virginia Beach oceanfront. They specialize in Baja style tacos and burritos, but everything else on the menu is just as great. The fish is fresh and never frozen, and they make their own house sour-mix for an unbeatable margarita experience. If you’re looking for the right price and the right atmosphere, Gringo’s Taqueria is the place to be. I recommend the Carne Asada tacos… three of them.

Plaza Azteca Mexican Restaurant

Sometimes chain restaurants fall through the cracks when it comes to authentic taste. However, Plaza Azteca Mexican Restaurant is the exception. They consistently offer high-quality taste at each of their locations, and the house guacamole is legendary (the spicy house guacamole is even better). Even more, the atmosphere is fun and inviting and the food arrives quickly. Finally, don’t forget to ask for the white sauce next time you’re on your way to dine at Plaza Azteca Mexican Restaurant. I recommend the Burrito San Hose.

Mi Casita Mexican Grill

Mi Casita brings traditional taste to the Hampton Roads area with an old-school flair. Their menu is filled with authentic foods and favorites. The servers are friendly and the service is genuine, making Mi Casita an ideal destination for the whole family. Their two locations each have a cozy atmosphere, giving Mi Casita a look that’s straight out of the movies. So much so, in fact, that the restaurant was recruited to be an on-site shooting location for a local film. Gather your friends and go see what the hype is all about! I recommend the Flautas (Taquitos) combo.

Mexican Restaurants in Virginia Beach: El Taco Loco

You can tell a restaurant is worthy when it’s packed… because you’ll get seated quicklyEl Taco Loco is a local favorite. As a result, they’ve been blessing the people of Hampton Roads for years, and you’ll quickly know why when you see the generous food portions. With frequent and great deals, you’ll have plenty of time to plan your next night out. El Taco Loco serves tacos, quesadillas tacos, and more, all for a great price and exciting experience. I recommend the Ceviche Tropical starter to kick things off.

El Azteca

Family-owned El Azteca is known for some of the fastest service of any local eatery. They have happy hour every day from 4:00 to 5:30 PM and numerous daily specials. They support the local community and give discounts to military service families. The dinner is delicious, but if you’re looking for a great place to take a lunch break, El Azteca keeps the portions sizable and affordable. I recommend the chicken fajitas.

Guads

This Virginia Beach Mexican eatery is a great option if you’re looking to stick to the basics; they have all the traditional Mexican food staples. The guacamole is always fresh, and the lunch specials are some of the best in town. The Guads atmosphere is super casual, allowing for customers to seat themselves wherever they choose. And, if you’re already in-the-know about Virginia Beach’s famous Mexican “white sauce” phenomenon, then you’re in luck. Guads’ white sauce recipe is one of the best in town. I recommend the tableside guac while you’re deciding on an entree.

Tijuana Flats

Tijuana Flats brings high upbeat energy. With an inexpensive and delicious “Tijuana Tuesdaze” taco special, a “Throwback Thursdaze” burrito special, and a fully loaded salsa bar to top it all off, Tijuana Flats has it all. Started in 1995, this tasty Tex-Mex restaurant claims to have a little flavor for everyone’s liking. Pick anything off the menu and we’re sure you’ll agree. I recommend the Bangin’ Chicken Tostadas.

Looking for a great authentic meal or just somewhere to grab a margarita? We’re sure you’ll be satisfied with these delicious Mexican Restaurants in Virginia Beach.
