Faithful Beginnings develops a school readiness guide to help parents prepare children for kindergarten. The guide is packed with simple activities for you to ensure your child is ready. You can browse all readiness guide activities to get started.  Or pick one subject to focus on.

The guide was developed by a community of parents, grandparents, educators, and faith leaders committed to equip our youngest children with the spiritual and educational foundations they need to succeed in school and at life.

As you and your child engage in these fun activities together, you’re ensuring that they enter kindergarten prepared to be a lifelong learner.

You may notice that some activities reinforce the same readiness milestones. Other activities might fall into different subject areas and cover multiple milestones. Keep in mind that this guide is just a starting point for many learning adventures.

Dear Friends,

As the mother of 5 children and grandmother to 12, I understand many of the stresses and challenges that parenting can bring. That is why I am excited to share with you the Faithful Beginnings School Readiness Guide. It combines important kindergarten readiness milestones, basic faith truths, scriptures, and simple activities parents can do at home with their children. It is not intended to be a doctrinal work, but simply a collection of ideas to strengthen families and congregations. Several different translations of scriptures have been used to communicate the teachings. Our hope is that you will use this as a guide to expand and explore many of the ideas presented with your family. This is simply a place to begin. As you use this guide, we encourage you to: Pray that God will equip you on the journey of faith and parent.ing. Look to your own place of worship for support and guidance. Spend time with your children! You will both benefit from this time together. I have been delighted and relieved by the partnership that God provides as we look to him to help us raise our children. As a mother, a verse that greatly encourages me is Isaiah 40:11: He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. May God bless and inspire you and your children.
