Nomarama Style

Which three words best describe your style? Comfortable, Streetwear/Skate, Dad-swag

What are your favorite places to shop? Sale sections on random indie clothing brands OR Thrift and consignment stores

Who’s your favorite style icon? I don’t think I have one, in particular,  I pull inspo from a lot of people and places. Like Asian fashion, different subcultures but to be honest, the price point has a MAJOR play in what I wear haha.

What’s your best style advice? Do you for you, lead with comfort and sensibility and you can’t lose.

What fashion/style did you love at the time, but now cringe when you see old photos? Double polos, popped collars and puka shells … I will neither admit or deny if I did that.

What’s your dad superpower? I don’t know lol. I pride myself on taking care of the household. Knocking down the old gender roles. You know laundry, housekeeping, cooking etc. I love knowing the fam has clean stuff to use 🙂

Facial hair or clean-shaven? Facial hair… no matter how sad my beard can be at times.

Nomarama Family

What’s your favorite way to spend time with your family? Doing things with my family. Whether it be taking a trip to a restaurant or exploring a new city altogether. I like to experience things and capture moments for keepsakes.

What’s been your best family vacation? My wife surprised me with a trip to Ashville of all places. We stayed in an Airbnb on a literal mountain and explored EVERYWHERE! Met cool people, ate amazing food, saw dope art and just had an overall great time.

What’s your favorite family activity? Being outside on a beautiful day. I love riding my bike with my kids… well, Lennon [my oldest] at least. Leo has thus far been too young to ride but I can’t wait to take him. Parks, going for walks, watching the stars… being outside is the best.

Best parenting advice: Don’t forget to respect your kids. You are older and might be wiser in most cases but always remember to say “Thank you”, “I’m sorry” or “you are right” when you know they are right.

Parenting true confession: I don’t have ANY patience and I admit it.

What’s your go-to family dinner? Burgers!

What’s your favorite family restaurant? I love going to a place called Irwins Pharmacy. Its the best because it’s got a diner in the back that has the most amazing limeade! The menu is inexpensive and the food is no-frills but REALLY good!

Nomarama Life

What’s your favorite show to binge-watch? Whatever my wife watches… but I am a comedy guy so if I come across a funny show on Netflix or Hulu [we are cable cord cutters] I’m hooked. “Fresh Off The Boat” or “Blackish” or “SuperStore” have been my go-to shows for a while now though.

If you could pick anyone to star as you in a movie based on your life, who would it be? Maaan I don’t know, I think about this randomly lol. I don’t think I know enough actors by name… or if I do they aren’t Famous famous, more so on an indie circuit.

What’s your favorite sport and why? I don’t care for sports really. Never really have, only did them as a kid to “fit in”. If I had to choose a sport it would be skateboarding… I don’t anymore but I do enjoy a good skate video or session.

What’s your favorite band/Music Genre? Shoe-gaze or “progressive”. I like just about all genres. If not fully then I can appreciate some inspo or sampling for sure!

If you could hang out with anyone from history, living or deceased, who would it be? Hmm wow, that’s a tough one. I am still a big fan of Action Bronson. Even though he’s taken a bit of a step back from being in the spotlight he seems really chill, can cook, and is a dope musician. If not him then Eddie Huang or Matty Matheson, or Chappelle all hilarious to me and the epitome of cool.

What’s at the top of your travel bucket list? Melbourne, Australia [insane burger scene!] and Phuket Thailand… that night market looks incredible!

What’s your favorite way to unwind at the end of a long day? Cartoons with Lennon or the Coffee Table Jazz Station playing through the speakers.

Your Nomarama Style

We love Jarrell’s comfortable, feel-good Nomarama style. It’s fun, cool, and exuberant, reflecting his upbeat personality. He has great signature accessories- like his shoes, sunglasses, and hats. But they complement his overall look and don’t overpower it.

But really, what’s not to love about a style that’s defined by spreading good vibes throughout the Virginia food scene and beyond? Be sure to send some local love Jarrell’s way by checking out Nomarama and following him on social media. You’ll thank us later!
