Enjoyed any s’mores lately? Outdoor fun and backyard fire pits have been popular in the past months and so have their classic sweet snack. Here are some new s’mores recipes for this campfire classic.

S’mores Recipes

Graham crackers, marshmallows, and a chocolate bar. Untwist some hangers from the dry cleaner into skewers and tada! Your family has dessert and an evening event. Or a middle-of-the-afternoon backyard party. Or simply a great idea for when everyone is cranky.

While roasting marshmallows until they’re gooey is the perfect summer ritual, what you do with those marshmallows, sometimes could use a new, crazy idea. Here are some favorite things to break a s’mores rut and make more sugary memories

S’mores in a Cone Recipe

Okay. This. Dig that box of ice cream cake cones out of the pantry – you know you have it. Fill each cone with about a 1/2 cup chocolate chips, then a handful of mini marshmallows. Then repeat layering until cones are filled. Wrap each cone tightly in foil. Roast in the campfire for 3-5 minutes until chocolate melt and marshmallows char to preference. Unwrap, serve, and be everyone’s hero.

Caramel Apple S’mores Recipe

This delicious twist simply replaces the graham crackers with Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced. Toast marshmallows. Top one apple slice with one Hershey bar square, then two marshmallows, then drizzle with caramel sauce and add the other apple slice. Incredible. And the kids are eating fruit!

Ice Cream Sandwich S’mores Recipe

While the campfire here is optional, people going crazy for this is not. Take 24 graham cracker squares. Top twelve with roasted marshmallow or marshmallow creme or fluff ( yes–what we used to eat on sandwiches) and spread chocolate frosting on the other twelve squares.

Open a full container of ice cream and cut the cardboard off the block. Then cut the ice cream in three rows long-ways, then into squares vertically. Place squares of ice cream between the two graham cracker halves and freeze for four hours. Then get them to do all the chores because they are so impressed with your skill and genius.

Eggo Waffle S’mores Recipe

I include this gem because if you slept the night in a tent, you need a breakfast that wins and people can make themselves. If you slept the night in your normal bed, sometimes you just need a treat to help you face the day.

Frozen mini waffles aren’t always available in which case you can cut regular Eggo’s in quarters ( and teach the kids math!) Bake waffles on a non-stick cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 5 minutes. Combine milk chocolate and marshmallows between two waffles and brush Eggo’s with cinnamon and butter. Return to oven for 2-3 more minutes.

Eggos make for a great indoor s’more. But this is all possible over the campfire as well. And in that case, Bless you. You deserve this as you scratch your mosquito bites.

Easy Indoor S’Mores Dip

It doesn’t get much easier than this–and it all happens in the microwave. In a large, microwave-safe bowl, add 1 14-oz can of condensed milk and 12 oz. of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Microwave for one minute, then stir until smooth. Add 14 large marshmallows, then microwave for 30 seconds. Stir, then microwave for an additional 30 seconds until the marshmallows are soft. Stir and serve with pretzels, graham crackers, fruit, whatever your heart desires!

S’mores Cookies

While traditional s’mores are famously messy, their cookie form counterparts ensure sticky hands won’t terrorize your home. Chocked full of graham cracker crumbs, mini marshmallows, and chocolate chunks, keeping everyone’s hands out of the cookie jar is going to be harder than usual. Or, if you want to make things a little easier, just make s’mores cookie bars. Another interpretation of “s’mores cookies” involves using two chocolate chip cookies instead of graham crackers in your s’more. Just the thought of that gave me a sugar high, but yes, I would eat the whole thing.

S’mores Crunchwrap

If Taco Bell does anything right–it’s their crunch wraps. The crunch wrap supreme, specifically. But this sweet take on the savory classic has the perfect combination of gooey and crunch. To make each crunch wrap, scatter marshmallows into the center of one flour tortilla, leaving about a 2” wide border around the center. Top marshmallows with graham crackers. Top graham crackers with chocolate. Tightly fold the edges of the tortilla towards the center, creating pleats.

After wrapping, quickly invert the crunch wrap so the pleats are on the bottom and they stay together. In a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, melt about a tablespoon of butter. Add the crunch wrap, pleated side-down, and cook until golden (about 2 minutes). Flip the crunch wrap and cook until golden on the opposite side, about 3 more minutes. Remove from the heat and immediately toss in cinnamon sugar. Cut in half and serve! Yum!

S’mores Truffle Pops

If I know anything about kids, it’s that Mom’s trip to Starbucks is a free pass to beg for a cake pop. These s’mores pops will make them forget about the ever-popular chain’s dessert. Place 2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips 1/4 cup of whipping cream in a medium-sized bowl. Microwave for 30-second intervals until completely melted and smooth. Add 1 cup of marshmallow fluff and stir until smooth. Gently fold in 1/2 cup graham cracker crumbs.

Set aside in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm up. Once the chocolate is solid enough to work with, place a spoonful in one hand. Gently press a marshmallow into the middle and then roll it into a ball to cover the marshmallow. Place the chocolate ball in leftover graham cracker crumbs and roll to cover. Insert a lollipop stick through the centers and place them on a baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15 to 30 minutes.

S’mores Milk Shake

I have a child who always chooses the milkshake. Every ice cream store, no matter the flavor, or toppings available, she goes with the shake. This s’mores dessert recipe is for that child and everyone else who feels like drinking their campfire vibes through a straw.

More S’mores Recipes Are Never Too Much

Here are 10 more slight variations on summertime fireside s’mores recipes. Remember, in life, Nutella, pretzels, Reese’s peanut butter cups, cheesecake chunks, Peppermint Patties, Oreo bits (enthusiastically smashed with a rolling pin in a plastic bag, of course), brownie, and chocolate chip cookies can only help.

No one can argue with the delicious combo of ooey-gooey marshmallow, chocolate, and graham crackers. Pinterest could dedicate itself fully to the s’mores theme and only gain followers. Also, don’t forget the Pumpkin Pie S’more next time you’re around the holiday fire pit get-together. Or maybe the s’mores dip for a potluck cookout.

Enjoy More S’mores

Time around the fire can’t be beaten. Neither can time in the kitchen waiting for the oven timer to ding! Enjoy getting creative and crazy with your s’mores recipes throughout the year. After a pandemic, campfires with all of our friends will be like no other we’ve had before. I’ll be dusting off my marshmallow roasting sticks if you need me.
