Eclectic Flair dad on the street George Culver

There are some people whose style is sure to make you smile, and Eclectic Flair Dad on the Street George Culver definitely fits the bill. He’s not afraid to embrace the fancy and fun side of fashion. So read on to learn why We Heart George.

Meet George

My name is George Culver and I’m Eater-in-Chief at I Heart Food! I’ve been working on the blog for the past 8+ and it’s given me many opportunities to meet great people and the area’s food and drink scene explode. In May my wife – Shelby – and I will have been married 29 years! We have a 29-year-old daughter named Marleigh and a 27-year-old son named Chayce, he is married to Katie. We also have a Yorkie named Jasper, nicknamed Mr. Man and Jasper the Boozehound due to his frequenting local breweries (he doesn’t drink but insists I order him a beer which I end up drinking…)

Eclectic Flair Style

Which three words best describe your style? I have a stylist and we’re married. Honestly, Shelby has been dressing me for decades now. She says I’m her human Ken doll. If I have an idea of something I’d like to wear, she always comes up with exactly what I saw in my head. It’s a good system.

What are your favorite places to shop? You’d have to ask Shelby that! She’s a bargain hunter I can tell you that.

Who’s your favorite style icon? Nucky Thompson and Thomas Magnum, P.I. are my spirit animals.

What’s your best style advice? I like a little flair, don’t be afraid to go all out too when you have the chance – fancy is fun.

What fashion/style did you love at the time, but now cringe when you see old photos? I just saw some old photos of me in the early 90s with some baggy looking jeans that came in at the ankles, cinched belt, and a tucked-in T-shirt. I won’t be doing that again.

What’s your dad superpower? Being really corny.

Facial hair or clean-shaven? I guess my mustache has become my visual identifier for most people. I don’t think people would recognize me without it!

Eclectic Flair Family

What’s your favorite way to spend time with your family? Cooking and eating.

What’s been your best family vacation? Our trip to Scotland recently was great! We went over there to celebrate Shelby’s uncle’s birthday. I’d do it again in a heartbeat!

What’s your favorite family activity? I used to love taking the kids out to check out live bands, now that they’re older it’s nice to just catch-up over dinner and see what’s going on in their lives.

Best parenting advice: Be a parent, don’t try to be the cool Dad/Mom. You gotta lay down the law.

Parenting true confession: We had our son Chayce (pronounced “chase”) on a leash a lot when he was little. I think it was our fault because he lived up to his name.

What’s your go-to family dinner? My fried rice! Here’s the recipe if you want to try at home too.

What’s your favorite family restaurant? El Taco Loco (definitely for the YUMBOs, a name my buddy coined for their big margaritas.)

Eclectic Flair Living

What’s your favorite show to binge-watch? It was Game of Thrones, but we also loved Mad Men and Breaking Bad.

If you could pick anyone to star as you in a movie based on your life, who would it be? I guess it would have to be Lou Diamond Phillips, everyone always said he looked like me.

What’s your favorite sport and why? I don’t really watch sports but I had to pick one it would be Boxing. There’s just something about pugilism that I love, going toe-to-toe with your opponent. I would never do it though, I like my nose the way it is.

What’s your favorite band/Music Genre? I like a lot of music. My last big kick was Post Rock but I am always on the lookout for new music. There is so much out there to discover.

If you could hang out with anyone from history, living or deceased, who would it be Probably a Neanderthal, I want to see what that was all about and why they disappeared. Is there a safety clause associated with this trip?

What’s at the top of your travel bucket list? Hmmm…That’s hard. We lived in Germany for a few years while I was in the Army. I do want to go to Italy and Spain for sure, so let’s just say the Mediterranean.

What’s your favorite way to unwind at the end of a long day? Wine. Lot’s of it (shout out to Bota Box heeeeyyyy…)
