5 Loungewear Must-Haves for a Work-from-Home Wardrobe

loungewear for work from home

Comfort and style don't have to be mutually exclusive! With these simple tips, you can elevate your loungewear, so you can look and feel your best.

Like most of us this past year, I have been mostly working from home and taking Zoom classes from the comfort of my bedroom. As someone who has always loved fashion and getting dressed, working from home has been a bit of an adjustment, to say the least.

This season has given me the best excuse to shop for clothes comfortable enough to lounge around the house in. But they're still professional enough for work Zoom meetings or a video call with a professor.

Clothing brands have heard our calls for chic loungewear and came out with incredibly sleek loungewear lines this year. They're all much cuter than your old staple sweatpants and hoodie combo. Check out all the fun options below, and let us know what your favorite looks are!

Loungewear Matching Sets

Sets are incredibly popular this season, and loungewear is no exception. This set from Free People features a pair of high-rise, wide-leg pants with a stretchy waistband in a beautiful burnt clay color printed with large flower designs. The matching top features the same print on a short collared button-down blouse. But it's also in a floaty fabric sure to allow for room to breathe. You can also mix and match both the top and bottom with other pieces in your wardrobe to create multiple looks that can be worn out as well!

Joggers

If you’re on the hunt for something more casual but still put together, check out these joggers These comfortable fleece pants feature zippered pockets on the sides and a stretchy, drawstring waistband. You can pair your new favorite joggers with the matching sweatshirt or fleece zip-up. For a more polished look, wear them with a sweater. If you are looking for a unique but still comfortable look, try out some Harem-style joggers. They're fuller around the leg and tight around the ankle.

Comfy Loungewear From Head to Toe

Aerie has many different joggers and sweatpants to choose from as well if these aren't your style. They also sell cute wire-less bralettes and soft cotton panties for wearing under your loungewear. After all, how can you focus on work when an underwire is digging into your skin? Add a pair of cozy socks or fuzzy slippers (no one can see your feet on zoom after all) to any comfy look.  Then you’ll be ready to work from home in style!

Ultra-Soft Leggings

Leggings are the ultimate stay-at-home staple, whether paired with a long sweater, cozy sweatshirt or knit cardigan. Try out a ribbed pair for a new twist or a fleece-lined pair for warmth! These leggings are even more comfortable than your average pair; they feature a hidden ultra-soft pajama fabric on the inside. This way, you’ll feel like you’re wearing pajamas but appear sleek and stylish. Pair any pair of leggings, ribbed, colorful, or smooth, with a coordinating cardigan or sweater and funky earrings for a Zoom work-appropriate look.

Dresses?

Who knew dresses could be loungewear? If you’re looking for a comfortable dress option, this one is made from super soft knit fabric, just like the leggings. No one will ever know your cute dress feels just like pajamas! Slide on some slip-on sneakers with your comfy dress (if you need to step outside) and pull your hair up with a trendy set of faux tortoiseshell clips for a polished look.

Bonus- Luxury Loungewear Options

Everlane is a popular brand that sells ethically made apparel, with a specialization in loungewear. Their collection features comfy styles in luxe fabrics, like their popular alpaca sweaters. Wear any of their hoodies, sweatshirts, sweaters, or tees with a coordinating pair of leggings, wide-leg pants, or joggers, depending on your personal style.

Anthropologie is known for beautiful, unique pieces, and its loungewear is no exception. I just purchased a cozy, pastel pink matching sweater set at my local Anthropologie from the sale rack, proving even luxe doesn't need to break the bank. Featuring super soft knit material, this set is perfect for getting comfy or settling in for a virtual workday. Anthropologie's Saturday brand is a great place to find silky palazzo pants in fun prints and patterns. Or, if you need a cozy top, try a soft cashmere sweater.

If you're looking for something slightly different, a cardigan dress from Frank and Oak is made from recycled wool and features a wrap-around belt to highlight your waist. This look provides all the comfort of an oversized cardigan and all the ease of a dress (no need to match a top and bottom). What more could you want? You can wear this dress around the house or even dress it up with heeled boots for an outdoor dinner.
